The Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 are two of the most legendary devices that Samsung has come out with. While a lot of people would consider these ancient by now, looking back, one can easily say that the success of these devices laid the foundation for Samsung’s smartphone market today. Sadly, the devices are no longer officially supported, but some users don’t want to give up, and that is the reason why these devices are now able to run the latest Android 14 update.
Unofficial Android 14 now works on Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Note 2
Now, the Android 14 update on these devices is not based on One UI 6.0, if that was not obvious. However, considering how the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are from the golden era of Android smartphones, finding custom ROMs for these devices is not that difficult, and that is exactly what the Lineage OS 21 is looking to do.
Now, for those who don’t know, the last update to run on the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 was Android 4.4, which was on top of TouchWiz UI–the same interface that got Samsung in trouble several times. However, you will not have to worry about any skin on top, as Lineage OS 21 offers a stock Android experience. At the same time, considering how this is not an official update, you have to understand that there are going to be some issues such as performance, storage encryption, battery, and a few other issues that you might run into. The custom ROM is still in the alpha stage, which means that you should not be using it as a daily driver.
If you want to install it and check how things work, you can look at the sources below and see if this works for you. However, I would highly advise that you are fully aware of what you are doing before you go ahead with the installation process, as a wrong step can potentially brick your phone, and we really don’t want that to happen.
